Brief

Speedy Romeo, located in Brooklyn, NY, is a neighborhood restaurant celebrated for its neo-neapolitan-style pizza and extensive natural wine selection. In 2012, college roommates Justin Bazdarich and Todd Feldman stumbled upon an old auto parts shop in Clinton Hill. Recognizing its potential, they transformed it into a unique establishment—part tavern, part roadside grill—boasting a blend of kitschy décor and modern touches. Since its inception, Speedy Romeo has earned acclaim from critics, achieving Michelin-rated status as a destination for both tourists and New Yorkers. Simultaneously, it remains a cherished staple for locals. With plans for expansion on the horizon, the owners approached us to revitalize their brand identity, menus, merchandise, collateral, and more.

Finding

With a name like Speedy Romeo—an homage to Todd Feldman’s family-owned horse in the 1970s, rich with personality and history—our foundational work became straightforward. Combining elements of auto racing and horse racing, infused with a 70s rock and roll influence, we aimed to develop a brand identity that resonated with each pillar equally, reflecting the warm, eclectic atmosphere of their location. Once this foundation was established, we delved into old magazines, gas tanks, and horse racing memorabilia to create a comprehensive, family-friendly nostalgia trip.
