Brief
Ray’s is a modern NYC dive bar with cheap beer and cheap thrills. With a style that mixes old-school honkey-tonk with New York’s in-crowd, a night at Ray’s is a vibe that’s effortlessly cool. We worked with the folks at Ray’s to create a series of short animations.
Finding
After discussing the project with ownership and exploring several directions, we landed on a direction that was inspired by the graphics and aesthetic tropes of vintage for TV Westerns as well as classic dive bar motifs like the neon sign. The Ray’s identity is heavily influenced by vintage cigarette packaging, and in that spirit, we created animations that are nostalgic, evocative and highly memorable.
