Brief

Boris & Horton is a dog-friendly cafe in New York City’s East Village. Previous to working with Saint-Urbain, their visual identity revolved around a simple, hand-drawn aesthetic. While this direction helped to establish them as the city’s go-to spot for lovers of dogs and coffee, with plans to expand locations, update their merch and launch CPG products — including candles and dog food — they felt their identity needed a refresh.

Finding

Our clients were clear in their intention to align their brand identity with their young, predominantly female, East Village customer base. In our work to develop an identity for Boris & Horton, our goal was to develop a brand that was social, playful and made people smile. Through the use of vibrant colors, off-balance fonts, expressive shapes, and adorable illustrations we arrived at an identity which radiates positivity and reflects the social nature of dogs and the in-store experience.
